Devils On A Verge… Also Huge Rumor

Posted in Uncategorized on July 2, 2009 by newjerseydevilsnews

The Devils are on a verge of signing a player who is playing in Europe and that they currently have the rights too. Speculation is that it might be Jagr, but the Devils don’t own the rights.
Just about fifteen minutes ago the Devils signed Ilkka Pikkarainen. In 2008-09, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound native Sonkajarvi, Finland had 24 goals, 13 assists and 149 penalty minutes in 54 games, he played for HIFK Helsinki in Finland for the past three seasons.

So I am being told that the Devils are looking a Derek Morris, Petr Sykora, and Shannahan. A resigning of Shannahan could happen as early as tomorrow. More to come.

Just a few moments ago the Devils trade their 23rd pick in the draft to Calgary for the 20th pick. With the 20th pick the Devils selected Jacob Josefson from Sweden. Jacob is a 6′0 centerman who is compared to Henrik Zetterberg. In 50 games played in the Sweden Elite League he score 5 goals, 11 assists totaling 16 points. Also, the Devils have a good history with trading up and down, Zach Parise and Martin Broduer are some that the Devils selected after trading up or down.
